Cafe CPDN :
So long...
(Message 1349)
Posted 1043 days ago by Dotsch Edward, theoretical yoo can also install CrossOver on your Mac and let SAP running within this emulated Windows. I have let running CPDN with CrossOver on my Mac, as CPDN had no MacOS application. The CPU time reporting did not work successfull, but did not make any difference, because CPDN gave fixed credits per trickle. The performance was also OK. But I have not tried it with SAP. The CrossOver installation has also the problem, that the GUI RPC port is locked by the MacOS BOINC client, so you need to assign a other port for the Windows/CrossOver BOINC client. This has the effect, that you can't manage the CrossOver BOINC client from the BOINC manager (the GUI RPC port is not adjustable at the BOINC manager) and use the boinccmd tool (command line) which has a configurable GUI PRC port. |

Credit pending

Posted 1087 days ago by Dotsch This is OK. The models would be send out to only one hosts and validated by itseld. So there is no need of a validation like on the other BOINC projects. |

Zero status but no 'finished' file
(Message 1172)
Posted 1186 days ago by Dotsch I had such a behavior on MacOS in the CPDN beta test. The BOINC client verifies, if the application is responding. Sometimes, if this is going wrong, the application would be restarted, in some circumstances it could be, that the WU will be set to 0% - It happend with my CPDN model and some SETI WUs, too. At my systems, it mostly happens, when I am using to much CPU throtteling. But I am not shure, what here is going wrong and why the model or WU resets to 0 %. - Should I write a mail to David Anderson about this problem ? |

Posted 1194 days ago by Dotsch I have rerun the model from my last backup, and it finshes at about 72% again. - It looks that it crashs at the same point as before. Could it be, that it is a problem with the model ? |

Posted 1207 days ago by Dotsch The messages on the Trickle server are independent of the data server. Trickles would be added if the Run was marked as error, not sure what boinc does if it's marked successful. It seems logical (to me) that Trickles not already received would be added. In any event, the final uploads will be accepted and used. Oh, sorry, forgott to say, that my model was still uploaded. The total transfer was about 30 to 40 MB. |

Posted 1207 days ago by Dotsch Thank you very much ! The backup restored successfull. But is it no problem, that the model has the state as reported successfull ? - Would the trickels / WU continued at the next reported trickels ? |

Model finished ?
(Message 1124)
Posted 1207 days ago by Dotsch My model was at about 70 to 80 percent, last time I have looked for it. One day later it was shown as successfull completed in the BOINC manager. Now, the model is shown with "client state done" and but the Validate state at "Initial". The credits are shown as pending. Is this OK ? Has my model completed successfull, or should I restore a backup of the model and recrunch it again from the last backup ? |

In the CPDN forums are some posts, that the deadline at CPDN has no effect. The deadline is only setup, because BOINC need one. You need a minimum of one trickle/month, before the model was send out to a other computer. So I think it is save to stay attached at attribution and compute CPDN, or compute both projects, as it Paul has written. |
